Homesteading Zealist Results

Zealist:

You are well on your way to being a tried and true homesteader. You’ve taken the plunge and are taking yourself and your loved ones down an incredibly wonderful, and hard, journey towards self-sufficiency. You may have already experienced the outskirts of your family giving each other the raised eyebrow, side glance every now and again as you try to explain your great and elaborate plans and ideas. But you aren’t afraid of hard work and with every set back, you brush yourself off, get up and try again. A go-getter attitude is the only way to succeed in homesteading. You are passionate about your family’s health. You don’t take no for an answer. You are full of zeal, life and all things homesteading.

So, you zealist you, what are your next steps? How can you keep forward momentum in your homesteading journey?

Here are a few suggestions. If you would like to move forward with your dream, take it seriously. Your dreams will only take you as far as you put them.

So dream.

Dream big and deep and wide and in full color. 🙂

First off:

Eliminate Distractions

This will look different for each one of us but I have a feeling one thing popped into your mind when you read this. So, this week, work on weeding out that one distraction. And the next week, work on another one. You get the picture 🙂 You may have started out with exuberant zeal, but if your zeal has waned a bit, consider how you are spending your time. Refocus by eliminating how you are spending your time.

Work on the most important task

For myself, I find it easy to get weighed down by a long to-do list. But many times I haven’t taken the time to figure out which task is the most important and which task will get me closer to my long-term goals. Write out your to-do list right now and then put the list in order of the most important task to the least. Work every day on the most important task.

Focus on your own work, your own life

With the advent of Facebook, came the desire and ability to keep up with anyone and everyone. But don’t forget about YOU. Don’t fear the dreams and desires that God has placed in your heart. Believe in yourself. This week, begin to trust yourself, trust that your life is important and that you can AND SHOULD focus on your life, and the dreams within. If you have found that your focus has shifted to things that don’t get you closer to your dreams, get back on track by thinking about what is best for you and your family.

Continue right where you are.

It is so easy to have “the grass is greener on the other side mentality.” Although you should dream and plan, you should also keep learning, and investing right where you are. Invest in those things that can continue to be used and applied no matter where you end up.  Pick one task to that you know needs to be done, that will get you one step farther along.

Stay out of debt.

You already know this, debt will hold you back. If you already are debt free, continue that way. There is nothing that can set you back more than strapping yourself to debt. If you know you need an a large item, get out the calculator and figure out how you can buy it without any loans or credit cards.  Continue to live within your means.

Your heritage is now. Don’t let your fears stop you from stepping forward.

See you in the next chapter of homesteading 🙂
